Did the storm change your plan?
To say I’ve been under the weather for the last couple of days would be an understatement. My doctor said, “we’re gonna treat it as if it’s pneumonia”. I haven’t been this sick in some time.
I’m amazed that a week ago today I got on the bike headed to multiple locations in SC and GA to share my story. I stopped at my sisters on Thursday night and planned to head to SC Friday afternoon. The news called for 8” of snow in the direction so I decided to cancel my Friday night, go home to Fayetteville, and then head back out Monday morning. I left for Dallas, Ga Monday morning but about 75 miles in to my journey I realized I had better turn around and go to the doctor. I’m amazed that God directed me home last Friday and Monday. If I had gone on either day I would be extremely sick and 350 miles from home.
Romans 8:28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
Now I’m not naive enough to think God created a snow storm to keep me home. No, but He used it in my circumstance to work things for my good! You see I was disappointed that I couldn’t make the trip however God knew that if I made the trip I’d be even more miserable. He didn’t create the circumstance for me….. He created the circumstance for a million me’s! I can’t even begin to imagine how many lives were touched by that storm for His purpose and their own good.
What I do remember is that my best plans put me in addiction, living in a dumpster, and at best….jail. His plan is always better than mine. I can see that clearly over the last 9 years. And you know, His blessing is seldom in making my plan work out. It usually comes at me unexpectedly, as a result of some hardship or disappointment.
What kind of storm is keeping you from doing what you want to do. Are you facing roadblocks, closed doors, minor nudges from your “conscious”. He’s in it! He’s in every bit of it and He reminds us in Proverbs 3: 5 & 6….. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.
